This past weekend our AppRiver Engineering team performed network maintenance to optimize the speed of the initial connection to our Hosted Exchange 2016 platform. For some customers, this maintenance caused Microsoft Outlook to disconnect and reconnect multiple times over the span of several minutes.
In some cases, the Outlook client could hang upon reconnecting to the mailbox and present a login prompt. If you were one of the customers affected and the client does not automatically reconnect, close Outlook for 30 seconds. This will shut down all the connections and allow the client to properly connect once it is reopened.
If you do this and still see a login prompt, there is a chance that your Outlook client added the words “Microsoftaccount\” in front of your user name in the login prompt. Remove “Microsoftaccount\” from the login in name and everything should connect normally. We apologize for the inconvenience.
